Deathly Hallows symbol on the back of the neck
Fine line · Neck · Black and grey · Photo
The image shows a small tattoo of a triangle enclosing a circle with a vertical line through it, drawn in thin black linework on the back of a person's neck. The photograph is taken from behind, showing dark hair and a knitted grey top, with no face visible. The ink is solid black on a single tone of skin, and the blurred green background gives the composition a soft, shallow focus.

Sit closer, the lot of you, and mind the embers don't take your boots. Past Harrow Wood, where the path gives up and turns to bracken, there was a ford, and three brothers came down to it on a night so black the water had no shine at all.

The eldest was a loud drover who wanted a weapon, so he cut a stick of ash from the bank and went over whistling. The middle brother was sharp and wanted to be beyond the reach of anything, so he asked for a stone that could call back the dead. He turned it three times in his palm, called his sweetheart's name, and watched her walk out of the mist and then walk straight back into it. The youngest said nothing. He only asked for a cloak that would hide him from the sight of anyone who came looking.
Years went by, as they do. The drover broke his ash stick on a tavern door. The middle brother kept the stone until it was worn smooth as a river pebble and gave it away to a stranger at a wedding. The youngest wore his cloak for a long time, and grew old under it, and never once was found. When at last Death came up the bracken path with his hat in his hand, the old man folded the cloak over his arm, stepped down to the ford, and said, Well, you've kept me waiting. And that was the only thing about him anyone ever remembered, which is more than most of us manage.
