Gold metallic temporary tattoo of a diamond ring with the word BRIDE inside the band, on the inner forearm.

Gold diamond ring with BRIDE on a wrist

Forearm · Colour · Photo

A gold foil temporary tattoo shows a cut diamond above a ring, with the word BRIDE written inside the band. Thin outlines and short radiating lines surround the diamond, and the metallic gold ink has a textured, shimmering finish. The design is centred on a tanned forearm against a blurred green background.

A story inspired by this tattoo · fiction

Doreen Pyke had sold forty-two gold rings by eleven o'clock, and the hen party from Dartford were still arguing about who would be the BRIDE. The stall smelled of hot vinyl and sea salt. She peeled each foil transfer from its backing with a fingernail, pressed it damp against a wrist, and held it there for thirty slow seconds, counting under her breath the way her mother had taught her to count stitches.

"It's only for the day," she told the youngest one, a girl with a nose ring who kept checking her phone. "Lasts a week if you don't scrub. Longer than most of the rings, love." The girl laughed, then went quiet, looking at the diamond rather than the word inside the band. Doreen had seen that look before, on a lad called Terry in 1987, who had bought a real ring from the jeweller's on the high street and taken it back in the spring, asking for the money in cash and the sunshine in a paper bag.

At half past four the sun dropped behind the harbour arm and the gulls took over the bins. Doreen packed the unused sheets into a biscuit tin. One ring was left in the corner, a diamond above a band with nothing written in it. She looked at it for a while, then peeled it off the backing and slipped it into her apron pocket.

That evening, at her kitchen table, she held the blank ring up to the lamp. The foil caught the light the way it did on the stall, as if it meant something. She left the band empty and pressed it into the frame of the wedding photograph on the dresser, where the glue had already started to lift.
