LEGO Batman and Robin tattoos on feet
Realism · Other · Mixed · Photo
Two photographs show a LEGO-style Batman minifigure on the top of one foot and a LEGO-style Robin minifigure on the top of the other. Batman is rendered mostly in black and grey with a yellow bat emblem, while Robin is in red, black and grey, with both figures shaded to suggest blocky plastic form and their capes flowing behind them. The two designs are placed side by side on a dark background, with each figure centred on its foot.

"They're not dead," Priya said from the water butt, arms folded like a magistrate. "They're on a mission. Underground."
So they dug. They dug beneath the leeks, under the gooseberry netting, and in the bare corner where the compost heap steamed in the mornings. Batman went in first, wrapped in a sandwich bag with a sprig of thyme for courage. Robin wanted a cape of mint leaves, which Priya thought was silly and then did anyway.
Weeks went by. The beans climbed over the frame and the squirrels took the crab apples. Then, on a Sunday, Mrs Okonkwo knelt to deadhead her marigolds and her trowel clinked on plastic. She held up the bag, squinting at the bat emblem, and called over the fence to the children's mother.
She did not scold them. She set the two figures on her kitchen windowsill, where the light came through the glass, and told them she would keep them safe until the mission was over. Tom suspected she had a better idea of how the mission ended than they did.
