Matching video game characters on forearms
Forearm · Colour · Photo
Two forearms show a pair of matching tattoos, each set in a heart-shaped panel with a purple and dark blue space background. The left piece shows a yellow-haired character in a pink dress beside a yellow star-like creature, and the right piece shows a red-capped character with a moustache and a yellow star creature above. The bold outlines and saturated flat colour sit alongside handwritten script lines that run along each arm.

A story inspired by this tattoo · fiction
The third pipe burst on a Tuesday, and by the time Harry Pollard had his spanner on the stopcock, the bakery ceiling was raining on the bread. That was when the little yellow star dropped through the plaster, no bigger than a dinner plate, blinking at him with two black eyes as if the mess were his fault.

It hovered at his shoulder and gave one decided tug on his sleeve. Harry knew a summons when he saw one. He grabbed his toolbag and his old red cap, and the star led him up through the hole, past the flour sacks and the cold rafters, into a sky so deep and purple it looked bruised. Stars were scattered across it like spilt sugar. Somewhere beyond a drift of cloud, a princess in a pink gown had been shut in a tower by a row of grumbling weather machines.
The machines were all leaking, of course. Harry spent the afternoon under a cloud gutter with a wrench in one hand and a mouthful of nails, while the princess held the torch and told him he was the first visitor in years who had looked at the pipes instead of the view. He fixed the last valve just as the star began to spin with delight. She offered him a crown. He said he would settle for a cup of tea and a dry pair of boots.
Back in the bakery the loaves were cooling and the ceiling had stopped dripping. The star settled on his forearm, glowing faintly, and refused to leave for the rest of the week. When his sister asked why he kept talking to his arm, he rolled up his sleeve, showed her the star and the words beside it, and said the only thing the little thing had ever told him: I'll follow you anywhere.
