Pair of sitting cat tattoos on forearms
Dotwork · Forearm · Black and grey · Photo
Two small cats sit back to back in profile, each shown from behind with the tail curled at the base. The shading is built from fine stippled dots, giving soft grey tones within solid black outlines. Both tattoos are set on pale skin against an orange and black patterned background, with the two forearms side by side.

Dear Dennis,

The lift in Ashgrove House has been out since Tuesday, so I have been counting stairs again, all twelve floors of them, and I am beginning to think the council builds these places for people who never intend to go home.
Mabel has taken to sitting in the kitchen window with her back to me, staring down at the car park as though it owes her money. Biscuit does the same from the front room. I have never known two cats so set on ignoring each other. Mrs Kaur from flat 9 says they are sulking about the new dog on the third floor, but I think they just like the view from opposite ends of the same grey sky.
Last Thursday the power went off across the whole block for an hour. I lit the candles from the Christmas drawer and sat in the dark with a tea towel over my knees. When the lights came back, I found both cats had turned round on their sills and were looking at each other down the corridor through the open doors, tails curled round their feet as if they had been waiting all evening for someone to say something first.
I thought you should know that. You never did stop sulking either, so write back, and tell Ruth the back bedroom is still yours if the job in Leeds falls through. Your loving sister, Gwen.
P.S. Mabel has started sleeping on the radiator. Don't ask me how.
