Small yellow corgi on a finger
Hand · Colour · Photo
A tiny cartoon corgi, drawn in simple outline with a flat yellow and orange fill, sits on the side of a finger. The image is a close view of a pale hand against a plain light background. The colour is bold and the composition places the small design centrally on the finger.

The captain has taken a liking to him, which is how we know it is serious. Each evening he has Crumpet brought up to the wheelhouse and they sit together watching the swell come up from astern. The old man talks to the dog about his own daughter in Bristol, and I have heard him say things he would never say to me. Last night the wind dropped to nothing and the sea went flat as a tin tray. The captain whistled one low note, and Crumpet trotted to the rail and barked twice at the moon. The captain laughed until he had to hold the wheel.
I've enclosed a sketch of the dog as he looked on the second day, all legs and outrage. I shan't see you until the spring, so tell Father the dog is well and the bread is not. Yours in haste, Tom
