Infinity symbol on the inner wrist
Fine line · Forearm · Mixed · Photo
A single fine line infinity symbol sits on the inner wrist, drawn in a pale, slightly faded ink with a thin, even line. Two small teal dots sit beside the upper loop, one rounder and one slightly teardrop-shaped. The palm fills the left of the frame against a plain grey background, with the tattoo placed in the upper right.

Dear Ray,

The wheel is still going round, though Mr Pratt swears he cut the power at the cabinet on Sunday night. I found it turning this morning with nobody in the cars, the lamps lit, the figure-of-eight track humming the way it did when Dad ran it. You'd have laughed. Pratt crossed himself, which he hasn't done since the bingo tent went up in Hull.
I climbed the ladder to look at the brake. Under the grease cap someone had dabbed two drops of teal on the hub, the exact shade we couldn't get again after the Margate job. Dad always said a loop with no start or end was the fair's promise to the town, and you kept your side by climbing in when your name was called. Two drops, one round and one running, as if they'd been let fall by somebody crying or somebody careful.
I'm not shutting it down tonight. I'm going to sit in the third car from the bottom and go round until the sky goes grey, counting the top of every arc, and see who gets off. Come home for the Saturday if you can. Bring the good tin of teal. I'll hold the ladder.
Love, Nell
