Matching infinity and love tattoos on wrists
Lettering · Forearm · Black and grey · Photo
Two wrists are photographed side by side, each carrying a black infinity symbol with the word love written in flowing script through its loop, plus a line of Roman numerals beside it. The linework is smooth and of medium weight, with solid black ink and no shading. The photo is taken at an angle with a plain light background and some clutter at the lower left.

Their father had taught them the endless splice, the one that runs a rope back into itself so you cannot find the start or the end of it. He called it the loop that doesn't let go. Every boat in the fleet carried a bit of it somewhere, a fender lashing or a buoy line, and before the boys first went out at fourteen, Ada stitched a length of tarred cord worked in that splice into the lining of each coat.
When the Morwenna finally came round the breakwater, only one of the boys was at the tiller. The other was lashed to the mast with a loop of that same cord, grey as the water but breathing, and the older boy would not let anyone cut him free. Ada knelt on the wet planks and worked at the knot with her thumbnail for an hour, and she never once found the beginning, which is exactly what the splice was made for. It held him all night, and it held him still.
