Team Bride diamond ring temporary tattoos
Colour · Flash
Several temporary tattoo transfers overlap across the frame, each printed on white backing paper. Each design shows a diamond ring with sunburst rays above it and the words Team Bride written in script inside an oval frame. The designs are rendered in metallic gold foil with clean outlines and no shading, and they are arranged at varied angles across the image.

Dear Pauline,

I am writing this on the back of a seating plan because the hotel has run out of notepaper and Sharon has taken the good pen to the spa. You will want to know about the stickers. There were forty of them, gold foil on white backing, each one a diamond ring with rays coming off it like the ring had been caught in a headlight, and the words Team Bride curling round the middle in a script that looked far more expensive than it was. Gemma ordered them from a shop that sells everything for weddings, including, I am now convinced, the bride herself.
The trouble started at the station. Gemma stuck one on the conductor's cap as a joke, and he wore it all the way to Leeds with a face like thunder and a very good sense of humour underneath. After that we were unstoppable. We put them on the taxi meter, on a pensioner's walking frame, on the back of a Labrador called Biscuit who belonged to nobody we could find. By Saturday there were rings on the bins outside the chapel. Nobody could peel the foil off the brick. I think it is still there, glittering away like a small, dishonest promise.
Here is the bit I keep coming back to. At the reception, when the vicar was helping Gemma's dad find his glasses, I saw one of the stickers had drifted off my own sleeve and was stuck to the back of his hand. He had no idea. He just kept holding the sherry, sunlight catching the gold on his knuckles every time he lifted his glass.
So if you find a ring on your wrist in March, don't blame me. Blame the sunshine and the sherry.
Love, Jo
