Gold foil anchor design with the words Bride's Mate, printed on cream paper squares laid out across a blue patterned background.

Bride's Mate anchor temporary tattoo designs

Colour · Flash

Several cream paper squares show the same design: a bold anchor with the words BRIDE'S above and MATE below in a chunky, rounded lettering. The anchor and text are rendered in metallic gold foil with solid, smooth edges and no shading. The squares are scattered and overlapping on a blue and white geometric tile pattern, with some tilted and some cropped at the frame edges.

The bakery's back door stuck, as it always did, and Maureen shouldered it open with a tray of cooling tins balanced on one hip. Behind her the ovens ticked. Across the car park the minibus was idling, headlights on, and Shona was leaning out of its window shouting that the taxi to the harbour had been booked for half five and it was now twenty to six.

The bride, Kerry, had insisted on a sea theme. Nobody knew why. Her fiancé was a bus driver from Stockport who had never been further than Blackpool, and the hen party had spent the previous evening in a pub called The Drowned Sailor trying to decide whether that was a reason or a warning. Someone had ordered a box of stickers from the internet, cream squares printed with a gold anchor and the words BRIDE'S MATE, and they had been handed out at the bus stop like contraband. Maureen had three on her wrist already, one on her cardigan pocket and one stuck to the back of her phone.

She found the bride's bridesmaid in the doorway, swaying gently, a sticker on her forehead that had slid crooked. Maureen set the tins down, took a cloth from the sink and wiped the anchor clean of flour. "Stand still, love. You're meant to be the captain, not the one who got left at the quay."

Out on the road, the minibus horn sounded twice. Maureen pressed a warm bun into the girl's hand, tucked the last cream square into the pocket of her dress, and watched the gold catch the first grey light as they all piled into the van, singing.
