Hello Kitty face with tribal headband
Blackwork · Forearm · Black and grey · Photo
A solid black outline tattoo shows a cartoon cat face with round eyes, a small oval nose and whiskers drawn as short lines. The cat wears a headband filled with a bold tribal pattern of triangles and dots, with the ears sitting above it. The ink is solid black with no greys or colour, shown in close, straight-on framing on a forearm against a pale background.

The cat had been sitting on the breakfast sideboard since six, and Mrs Pring had stopped asking it to leave. It was a round-faced thing with whiskers ruled on in straight black strokes, and it wore a striped headband of triangles and dots that made the lodgers squint over their kippers. Nobody knew whose it was. It had come up off the shingle with the tide wrack and simply decided Gull Rest was its address.

Mr Halloran, who had taken the back room every August since the Coronation, said it looked like a ticket from a bus conductor's satchel. Miss Dacey, who had not left her room since the Jubilee, wanted it put out with the bins. Mrs Pring fed it sardine ends and kept her opinions to herself, mostly because the cat had once sat on the rent ledger and her sums had come out wrong for a week.
On the last Saturday of the season the Ferris family from Leeds went down to the pier to watch the lifeboat drill and found a headband lying on the slipway, folded like a flag. Tom Ferris carried it back up the hill, and Mrs Pring recognised the pattern before he reached the gate. She set it on the sideboard beside the cat, and for once the cat did not move.
By Monday the boarders had packed their cases, and the cat had gone with them, though nobody saw it leave. Mrs Pring found sardine ends on the window ledge for a fortnight afterwards, then stopped looking. The headband stayed where she had put it, and she dusted round it every morning.
